Gollini to make first Serie A appearance since 2024

Roma midfielder Pierluigi Gollini is set to make his first appearance in Serie A since 2024, as the club will be without Mile Svilar for the next nine Serie A and Champions League matches. The 99, who has become a vital part of the Giallorossi, sustained a fractured fifth toe on his right foot during training on October 2nd. The medical team is currently assessing whether a screw will be required to stabilize the fracture, but any such procedure is unlikely to affect the planned recovery timeline.

Svilar's last Serie A appearance alongside Roma was on February 10, 2024, during the match against Inter Milan. Gollini, who had made only one appearance in a year and a half for Roma, in a Europa League game against Panathinaikos, will return to the starting lineup after a prolonged absence. The goalkeeper and Svilar had previously shared a four-year partnership at Bergamo, where Gollini had risen to prominence and earned a national team call-up. However, a disagreement with the coach led to a separation, seemingly ending their collaboration.
