Detroit Lions vs. Arizona Cardinals live chat, discussion

Glendale, Arizona - September 22, 2024 - The Detroit Lions are just one game away from their bye week, and the focus is on how they'll navigate this break. Currently sitting at a modest 2-2 record, the team's future hinges on Sunday's matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Throughout the season, Detroit's defense has consistently ranked among the league's worst in multiple statistical categories, making it unlikely that the Lions can secure a Super Bowl victory with their current defensive performance.

However, there is still time for the defense to improve under the watchful eye of defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard. The Cardinals' offense has not been spectacular this season, and their star receiver, Marvin Harrison Jr., is inactive due to an anticipated trade. Additionally, the Cardinals are without two key offensive linemen, further weakening their attack.

With this in mind, the Lions have high expectations for their offense this week, in an attempt to secure a positive outcome ahead of the bye. The Cardinals' pass defense has been notably weaker than Detroit's, so a win could significantly improve the Lions' morale during their week off. Conversely, a loss could fuel the growing calls for significant changes within the organization.
