Canada Deports Meera

Pakistani actress Meera was returned to the United States after Canadian immigration officials denied her entry during a recent trip. The actress was en route from New York to Canada to attend a show when she was stopped and questioned for several hours at the Niagara border. Meera expressed her confusion over the denial of entry and speculated that someone may have filed a complaint against her.

Earlier, Meera had encountered similar immigration issues in the United Kingdom, where authorities had previously denied her entry and imposed a 10-year ban. Her mother, Shafqat Zahra Bukhari, suggested that Meera's earlier difficulties stemmed from a misunderstanding during an immigration interview, as Meera reportedly struggled to comprehend the English questions posed.

Despite the expiration of the UK ban, Meera has continued to face challenges obtaining a British visa. An application she submitted after this incident was rejected due to inaccuracies allegedly provided by her travel agent. In July 2025, Meera sought a visa from the British government to visit her sister, who was undergoing cancer treatment in London.

Meera stated that the ongoing immigration dispute had kept her apart from her family for an extended period. Meera holds a US Green Card and has previously journeyed to Canada for both personal and professional reasons, including a visit to Calgary for a film promotion and a stage performance. The news of Meera's deportation from Canada was first reported by ProPakistani.
