Bezzecchi triumphs in Indonesia, but Martin returns to top of MotoGP standings

JAKARTA, Oct 11 — Marco Bezzecchi secured a victory in Indonesia, while Jorge Martin climbed back to the top of the MotoGP world championship standings. Bezzecchi, riding an Aprilia, outpaced pole-sitter Raul Fernandez in the final stretch of the intense grand prix at Mandalika International Circuit. Spain's Fernandez finished second, with teammate Jorge Martin also on an Aprilia bike, securing third place.

Ducati's seven-time world champion Marc Marquez concluded the race in sixth position, allowing Martin to reclaim the championship lead. Bezzecchi now holds third place in the championship with 309 points, while Martin leads with 355 points, and Marquez follows with 353 points. Bezzecchi expressed his joy, stating, "It's amazing, I'm very, very happy."

Martin, aiming to head to Australia with a slim lead, acknowledged his best effort, saying, "I did the maximum. At the start, I lost a lot of positions, but I tried to stay calm and overtook riders step by step." Fernandez, recovering from a finger injury sustained during Saturday's sprint, began from pole position and maintained his speed, keeping Bezzecchi at bay despite his injury.
