Al Gannas delegation visits Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition

Doha, Qatar - A delegation from the Al Gannas Association in Qatar recently visited the Saudi International Falcons and Hunting Exhibition, held at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center from October 1 to 10. The event, organized by the National Falcons Center, showcased a wide array of activities and experiences catering to a diverse range of interests, including falconry, expeditions, adventure, cultural and commercial activities.

The delegation, led by Chairman Ali bin Khatem Al Mahshadi and Deputy Mohammed bin Abdulatif Al-Misnad, observed the exhibition's continual growth each year, noting its appeal to a broad spectrum of visitors. Highlights included the "Future Falconer" programme, Shalail Museum, taxidermy displays, 4x4 vehicle shows, shooting activities, Da'u (falcon lure-calling) event, sea fishing, hiking, folklore performances, safaris, camel and equestrian activities, a falcon auction, falconry experience, and workshops.

A key feature was the Milwah (lure-chase) race, a competition held from October 4 to 9 with twelve rounds for owners, amateurs, and professionals. The top five finishers in each round took home a total prize money of SAR 723,000.

During his visit, Al-Mahshadi also toured the Hail Falcon Breeding Farm in Saudi Arabia, where gifts were exchanged between the two countries. He praised the organizers for their efforts in preserving the heritage of falconry, a shared legacy between the brotherly nations of Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Discussions were held regarding potential cooperation and exchange of expertise in falconry, as well as best practices for organizing such major international exhibitions.
