Ahead of local polls, police intensify CASO in Kadapa

Digital reporting of details of arrival, stay and accommodation of foreign nationals in Form–III is mandatory, says SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath

Ahead of the local body elections, the police department in Kadapa district has intensified their Cardon and Search operations (CASO) in several villages. The heightened scrutiny comes as officials warn of legal action against those who violate election guidelines. Under the leadership of SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath, a CASO was carried out in Moragudi village, which falls under the Jammalamadugu Urban Police Station's jurisdiction.

Officers checked suspicious individuals and cautioned them against engaging in any suspicious activities during the elections. Following the check, police conducted foot patrols in the village to ensure the safety of the public. In addition to Moragudi, police officials conducted CASO and foot patrolling in six other villages within Pulivendula Urban limits: Chinna Rangapuram, Velamavaripalli, Venkatapuram, Polepalli (Basireddypalli), and Brahmanapalli.

The police have been monitoring the movements of suspicious individuals and raising awareness among villagers about the elections, urging them to avoid altercations and refrain from actions that could disrupt law and order. The police are taking pre-emptive measures to prevent any unlawful activities during the local body elections and have urged the public to cooperate with them in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the SP instructed hotel and lodging management, including homestays, hospitals, educational institutions, religious and charitable organizations, to provide information about foreigners on the designated online portal. Under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, all accommodation establishments providing services to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders must comply with the rules, with penalties of up to ₹1 lakh for non-compliance.

Foreign nationals and OCI cardholders are prohibited from engaging in unlawful activities, such as obtaining Indian citizen identity documents, registering as voters without eligibility, participating in elections illegally, or purchasing agricultural land.
