‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Season 2 Adds Bill Nighy, Rosemarie DeWitt in Guest Roles

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will conclude in the spring with its final season, Season 2, slated to premiere in March 2027 according to an announcement at Star Trek's New York Comic-Con panel. The series, exclusive to Paramount+, previously announced its completion of the second and final season in March, shortly after the Season 1 finale.

Bill Nighy and Rosemarie DeWitt have been added to the cast for Season 2 as guest stars. Nighy will portray Nyk Ake, Holly Hunter's daughter Nahla's estranged father, while DeWitt will play Laytha Sadal, mother of Tarima (Zoë Steiner) and First Lady of Betazed. The exact release date for the season's episodes will be revealed later.

Co-showrunner Alex Kurtzman expressed joy in continuing Gene Roddenberry's vision, crediting the team's hard work in creating the series. Season 2 will see the Starfleet cadets in their second year aboard the USS Athena, navigating rivalries, diplomatic negotiations, competitive tournaments, and a mysterious new cadet whose presence could have far-reaching consequences.
