Soylent Green Blu-ray Review

In the year 2026, a dystopian United States faces severe consequences of climate change, overpopulation, and wealth inequality. The city is a sea of people with limited resources, and the elite live in luxurious isolation. Soylent Corporation, a food supplier, produces Soylent Green, a high-protein wafer made from plankton. The film follows a hard-boiled detective, Robert Thorn, played by Charlton Heston, as he investigates the murder of Simonson, a board member of Soylent Corporation.

Thorn, who is assigned to the case, becomes entangled with Shirl, one of the many women who serve the elite as domestic servants. The movie is visually stunning, with a rich color palette and an oppressive greenish hue in scenes set outdoors during heat waves. The film's world-building is exceptional, showcasing the stark contrast between the impoverished masses and the wealthy elite.

Heston's Thorn, driven by his dedication to uncovering the truth, forms emotional bonds with his "book," Solomon Roth, and Chief Hatcher, complemented by a solid supporting cast.
