Product Testing: NMDPRA, Bureau Veritas, Ace Energy Sign Tripartite MoU
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has forged a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bureau Veritas and Ace Energy and Power Solutions Limited. The agreement aims to digitalize the regulatory authority's nine laboratories across the country. Dr. Mustapha Lamorde, the Authority's Executive Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Community, signed the MoU on behalf of the Authority CEO, Mallam Rabiu Umar.
The collaboration will enhance the Authority's regulatory oversight through capacity building, standardization of operating procedures, staff training and deployment of state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. The project will also support the laboratories' pursuit of international accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025, improve product certification, surveillance and compliance monitoring, and align with the ECOWAS 2030 roadmap for product quality in the region.
Additionally, the Authority is procuring advanced equipment, such as sulphur analysers, capable of detecting sulphur content below 10 parts per billion, to ensure strict adherence to national standards. The digitalization initiative is being piloted to monitor petroleum products throughout the supply chain, from importation to local refining, and to prevent under-dispensing at filling stations.
