North Carolina football head coach Bill Belichick conveyed a concise message following the Tar Heels' impressive 21-17 victory over No. 25 Pittsburgh Panthers on Sunday. After securing their first win under Belichick over a ranked opponent, North Carolina improved their record to 3-2 in 2026 and 1-1 in ACC play. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 5-1 overall.
Speaking after the game, Belichick's advice to his team was straightforward: "Just get ready for Duke." The Tar Heels' defensive efforts, which included two interceptions and two sacks, played a crucial role in their win. Quarterback Billy Edwards had a strong performance, while wide receiver Jordan Shipp contributed significantly to the offense.
Despite facing a challenge without key player Mason Heintschel, North Carolina's defense and overall execution proved to be the deciding factors in their victory, setting the stage for their next matchup against Duke.
