NFL QB Power Rankings: Where Does Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Rank After 4-0 Start?

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes solidified his reputation as one of the NFL's premier passers after leading his team to an impressive 4-0 start in the 2026 season. His ability to consistently perform under pressure and consistently deliver in critical moments has helped the Chiefs remain among the league's top contenders, sparking debates about his position in the latest quarterback power rankings.

Mahomes showcased his skill set by combining arm strength, pocket awareness, and improvisational ability to keep Kansas City's offense moving. He was able to attack downfield when opportunities arose, while also capitalizing on shorter passing options to maintain drive progression. Even when defenses disrupted their initial game plans, Mahomes demonstrated the patience to manage various situations and make decisions that protected possession.

While Mahomes' standing in the league remains competitive, with young stars and seasoned veterans making strong plays, his experience in high-pressure scenarios and postseason success elevate him among the NFL's elite. He currently holds the second spot in the latest NFL QB power rankings, detailed by Garrett Podell for CBS Sports.

Mahomes' 4-0 start has given him a strong foundation for another successful season, but the challenge lies in maintaining that level of performance. The Chiefs must address areas such as consistency among their receiving options and front-line protection to ensure Mahomes can operate efficiently against increasingly formidable opponents.

If he can continue to adapt, make critical plays, and elevate the offense when games tighten, Mahomes will remain firmly in the conversation near the top of the quarterback rankings, even as other contenders make their case.
