Man City boss says club will win financial charges appeal
Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca said Friday he has absolute faith the club will win its appeal after being found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules.
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has expressed unwavering confidence that the club will prevail in its appeal following a ruling guilty of over 100 breaches of Premier League financial regulations. Maresca, appointed last June, maintains the club's integrity, citing trust in the ownership, CEO, and other key personnel. The independent commission uncovered a nine-season period from 2009-2018 where City allegedly arranged sham contracts with commercial partners to artificially boost revenues and cut costs by more than £900 million (US$1.2 billion).
The club, already dominant in English football with eight Premier League titles and the Champions League, faces potential severe repercussions if the verdict is not overturned, including relegation or expulsion from the league. Maresca emphasized the team's trust in the organization and the importance of waiting until the appeal's outcome before addressing the matter publicly.
