Las Vegas Aces vs. Golden State Valkyries Live: Highlights, score
A'ja Wilson was presented with her fifth MVP trophy Thursday. Today, she's tasked with leading the Aces in an elimination game at home.
The Las Vegas Aces will face the No. 2 seed Golden State Valkyries in Game 3 of the WNBA playoff semifinals on Friday, Oct. 9, at Michelob Ultra Arena. The defending champions rarely perform well when presented with trophies, banners or rings on game days. Las Vegas Aces star A ja Wilson was given her fifth MVP trophy after a practice in the team's home arena on Thursday, but now she must focus on leading her team in an elimination game.
Wilson, who averaged 28.8 points per game in the playoffs, stated that she will warm up with her team instead of hoisting the trophy in front of fans, as she had planned earlier in the day. Golden State Valkyries star Gabby Williams averages 24 points per game in the playoffs, and her team boasts more depth than the injury-riddled Aces.
The Aces' victory in Game 2, which saw Williams and Veronica Burton make clutch plays after the Aces took an early lead, highlights the importance of strength in numbers in the series.
