Banks is rated by Rivals as the No. 4 player nationally and the top combination guard.
Five-star guard Jezelle GG Banks has committed to the University of South Carolina for her college basketball career. Dawn Staley, the University of South Carolina's head coach, is rejuvenating her team after three NCAA tournaments finals and two national championships in the last five seasons. Banks, a 5-foot-10 guard from The St. James Academy in Virginia, was rated No. 4 nationally in the recruiting class of 2027 and the top combination guard by Rivals.
She expressed her desire to play for Staley since high school, praising her energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the game. Banks received offers from several other teams, but ultimately chose South Carolina, stating that the staff made her feel at home and were honest about the expectations for her development. In her junior year at the St. James Academy, Banks averaged 14.3 points and 5.4 assists per game, earning Naismith Second Team All-American honors.
This summer, she averaged 19 points, 5.5 assists, and 3 rebounds per game in the Nike EYBL and led Team USA to a gold medal in the U18 FIBA Women's AmeriCup. Banks is the second commitment to South Carolina this week, following four-star point guard Taylor Brown.
