Cristiano Ronaldo Hits 980 Career Goals In Al-Nassr Victory After Controversial Portugal Break, Moves Closer To 1,000-Goal Milestone | Video

Cristiano Ronaldo showcased his goal-scoring prowess in Al-Nassr's 3-0 victory over Diriyah in the Saudi Pro League on Friday, marking his return to club football in impressive style. The 41-year-old Portuguese striker broke the deadlock midway through the first half, capitalizing on a rebound after Kingsley Coman's effort was blocked by goalkeeper Waleed Abdullah.

Ronaldo's goal propelled him to 980 career goals, highlighting his continued goal-scoring prowess despite a turbulent international break. The controversy surrounding Portugal arose when Ronaldo left the national team camp following a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. He had been left on the bench against Norway and benched for a Nations League fixture against Denmark, actions that reportedly strained his relationship with Jesus.

In his statement, Ronaldo apologized to his teammates and Portuguese supporters, acknowledging the seriousness of his actions as captain. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his international future, Ronaldo's goal against Diriyah provided a positive response on the pitch. Al-Nassr's momentum continued with Samu Costa doubling the lead shortly before halftime, and Coman sealed the win with a third goal in the 77th minute.
