Caleb Wilson’s First Shot With Bulls Echoes Michael Jordan

A striking moment in the Chicago Bulls' preseason unfolded not with a seasoned veteran or a trade acquisition, but from the fourth overall pick, Caleb Wilson. During his initial live game with the team, Wilson demonstrated a classic turnaround fadeaway jumper, a move typically associated with basketball legends like Michael Jordan.

The shot came early in the first quarter, as the Bulls led the Phoenix Suns 20-17, signaling a promising future for the rookie. This performance echoed the impact of Jordan, highlighting Wilson's potential to become a key player for the franchise. The Chicago Bulls are undergoing a significant rebuild, entering the 2026-27 season with a completely new roster after a disappointing 31-51 campaign.

In an effort to revamp the team, the front office completed seven trades, including the most in the league, to trade away Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, and Nikola Vucevic. The new roster includes Nic Claxton and Norman Powell, who joined the team via a four-team trade, bringing valuable shooting and rim protection skills. The financial commitment to these additions is evident, with Powell receiving a two-year deal worth around $45 million.

The roster, led by new head coach Tiago Splitter and Bryson Graham, is designed to compete immediately, with a focus on young talent and shooting ability. Despite some doubts about Wilson's shooting accuracy, the preseason performance suggests he has the potential to become a significant player. The Bulls are making a bold move, aiming to build a foundation for long-term success rather than focusing on immediate results.

With a win total of 28.5 and playoff odds at +1000, the team acknowledges the challenge ahead. However, the early preseason performance offers a glimpse of the potential the new roster may bring, and fans will be watching closely to see if the hype surrounding Wilson translates into consistent production throughout the season.
