Barca extend perfect streak, Atletico scrape late win
Spanish champions Barcelona extended their perfect start in La Liga with a 3-0 win over Getafe, while a late header secured Atletico Madrid a narrow 2-1 victory at Alaves.
Barcelona's Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the second minute with a low deflected effort after dribbling past three defenders. Gabriel Jesus added a second goal for Barcelona after half an hour, capitalizing on a pass from Lamine Yamal. France defender Jules Kounde sealed the win for the league leaders by scoring the third goal from a cross delivered by Yamal.
Barcelona extended their perfect start in La Liga to three matches, moving five points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who secured a 2-1 victory over Alaves earlier in the day. The victory also widened the gap between Barcelona and fourth-placed Real Madrid to nine points. Barcelona will host Getafe in their next match, while Atletico Madrid will play Villarreal later on.
