11 labourers abducted from Balochistan's Duki freed

Quetta, Pakistan: In a recent incident, eleven laborers who were abducted from the Duki district two weeks ago have been released, according to a statement from Hamza Shafqaat, the additional chief secretary for home affairs. The laborers are now safe and residing in a secure location. The attack occurred on September 26 when 40 to 50 unidentified men stormed the SMC Construction Company camp in Palri, Duki district.

The attackers set fire to four company vehicles and murdered a private security guard, while another was injured. In response, the Duki SP, along with other law enforcement officers, including the Frontier Corps and relevant agencies, swiftly mobilized to the scene and began a search operation. Regrettably, one of the abducted individuals named Shahid was killed by the kidnappers, with his body subsequently disposed of in Kohlu.

In an effort to secure the release of the laborers, authorities sought assistance from tribal elders, who engaged in extensive negotiations with the kidnappers. As a result of these negotiations, all eleven laborers have been freed, with ten originating from Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab and only one hailing from Duki district itself.
