Washington - The White House has offered Katie Zacharia, a former television commentator, the position of press secretary to US President Donald Trump, according to multiple sources within the White House. While it is unclear whether Zacharia has accepted the offer, the "New York Times" reported her as a potential successor to Trump's former press secretary Karoline Leavitt, citing informed sources.

Zacharia most recently served as a communications consultant for the Trump Media & Technology Group, which includes the social media platform Truth Social. Prior to that, she briefly served as deputy spokeswoman for the US Department of Homeland Security and has appeared as a commentator on Trump's Fox News network and the ultra-conservative broadcaster Newsmax.

Leavitt resigned as White House press secretary at the end of August, two weeks after Trump announced her departure. At only 29 years old, Leavitt held the position longer than any other White House press secretary in Trump's second term.
