The Wa Technical Institute in Ghana's Upper West Region has commissioned a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Training Centre as part of an initiative to equip 100 electrical trainees with practical renewable energy skills within a year. Supported by the EU and implemented by the ILO, the facility aims to improve practical training in solar installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, preparing young people for employment and entrepreneurship in Ghana's expanding green economy.
Dr Hassan Rashid Pelpuo, a key figure in the project, emphasized the importance of the facility's success being measured by the quality of training, competence of graduates, and the opportunities created for graduates, urging partners to integrate the equipment into regular practical lessons and ensure instructors receive necessary support.
