Record label took N8m out of N10m compensation I got after Burna Boy assaulted me – Mr 2Kay

Nigerian singer Mr 2Kay has disclosed that his record label only paid him N2 million out of the N10 million compensation he received from the management of Eko Hotel and Suites following an assault and robbery by armed men reportedly sent by his colleague, Burna Boy, in 2017. Speaking in a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Mr 2Kay stated that he left his record label due to their handling of the compensation money.

The incident occurred after Mr 2Kay was beaten, tied up, and robbed in his hotel room by men posing as room service at Eko Hotel and Suites during the Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless concert in October 2017. The suspects, including Burna Boy's road manager, Joel Kantiok, were arrested and confessed to being hired and paid by Burna Boy to teach Mr 2Kay a lesson.

Burna Boy was later declared wanted, turned himself in to the police, and was arraigned on conspiracy and accessory to armed robbery charges. The two eventually resolved their beef in August 2021, with Burna Boy apologizing to Mr 2Kay.
