La comentarista Katie Zacharia, nueva portavoz de Trump

Katie Zacharia, a conservative commentator who previously served as the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will take on the role of White House spokesperson, replacing Karoline Leavitt, according to a high-ranking official at the presidential residence. Currently, Zacharia is the communications advisor for Trump Media and Technology Group, the company managing Truth, the president's social media platform.

Leavitt, who joined the White House as the youngest spokesperson in history, held the position for just over a year and a half. Her tenure was marked by her unyielding support for the president and his policies. Before joining the White House, Leavitt worked in the White House press office during Trump's first term and joined the 2024 Republican presidential campaign as a spokesperson.

She gave birth to her second child in May and, after a brief maternity leave, announced her permanent departure in August. Since then, Leavitt has become a frequent commentator on conservative television networks. She recently confirmed that she is joining Fox News as a political analyst, following in the footsteps of other Republican presidential spokespersons, such as Dana Perino and Ari Fleischer, who previously represented George W. Bush's administration from 2001 to 2009.

With the departure of Leavitt and the arrival of Zacharia, the famous podium in the White House press room has been largely unattended. Several Trump administration officials have taken turns answering press questions sporadically, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President J. D. Vance, and Interior Secretary Doug Burghum.

Zacharia previously served as the spokesperson for then-Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, who resigned early this year, and has frequently appeared as a commentator on conservative media outlets. She is a practicing attorney and a mother of four children.
