Kerajaan naik unjuran pertumbuhan ekonomi 2026 kepada 4.8%-5.3%

The Malaysian government has raised its estimated economic growth target for 2026 to between 4.8% and 5.3%, up from the previous goal of 4% to 4.5%. This comes as the economy is projected to expand between 4.2% and 5.2% in the coming year. According to the 2027 Economic Review report by the Finance Ministry, the nation's economy grew by 5.7% in the first half of 2026, with an estimated growth of 4.7% in the second half of the year.

The report highlights that domestic demand remains the main driver of growth, bolstered by consumer spending, a stable labor market, and increased household income. Government support, including the Basic Assistance Rahmah (SARA), Cash Rahmah (STR) contributions, and the expansion of the Madani Sale Rahmah (PJRM) program, aims to maintain household purchasing power.

Lowering fuel prices through subsidies on BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel, as well as the RON95 extension, are also expected to help alleviate the impact of rising energy prices and inflation on household spending. The service sector is expected to continue as the main engine of growth, supported by tourism, entertainment, and transportation activities during Malaysia's Year of Visit 2026-2027.

The manufacturing sector is also poised to benefit from increased demand in the technology sector and the expansion of high-value activities, particularly semiconductors and the electronics and electrical (E&E) industries. However, the report warns that the outlook for the country's economic growth still remains vulnerable to external risks, including geopolitical tensions, changes in international trade policies, and global financial market volatility.
