Katie Zacharia Offered Job As Donald Trump’s Next White House Press Secretary

President Donald Trump has proposed conservative media commentator Katie Zacharia for the position of White House press secretary, according to a White House official. This move would see Zacharia take over for Karoline Leavitt, who recently departed from the role in August. Known for her work with Trump Media and Technology Group and frequent appearances on Fox News, Zacharia would also inherit a White House press operation currently embroiled in a conflict over media access.

The administration has been hosting podcasters and influencers in briefings while contesting CNN, MS NOW, and Politico in court over restrictions on their press credentials. Zacharia's appointment comes as Fox News announced that Leavitt will join their network as a contributor next month, providing political analysis. Leavitt, the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history, left the administration to spend more time with her family.

During her time in the role, she helped redefine the White House's relationship with the press by creating a designated briefing-room seat for independent journalists, podcasters, and social media influencers. However, her departure has sparked legal battles, with a judge recently extending a temporary injunction blocking Trump's ban on CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House grounds.
