Mumbai City FC, set to begin their Indian Super League (ISL) campaign on Sunday, face off against Churchill Brothers in Goa. Newly appointed head coach Manolo Marquez aims to secure a winning start despite a disrupted pre-season and the challenge of three consecutive away matches. Marquez, who previously coached Hyderabad FC and FC Goa, emphasizes the importance of winning the game, regardless of whether they achieve all three points.
The club's new signings, including Carlos Delgado, Sergio Lamas, Lazar Cirkovic and Farukh Choudhary, are expected to bolster their squad depth and flexibility. Churchill Brothers, an unpredictable opponent, will rely heavily on Mumbai's performance. Marquez, confident in the team's potential, stresses that their playing identity - characterized by a possession-based, attacking style - will remain intact while striving for results.
With the top-six playoff race on the horizon, Mumbai City FC hopes to establish early momentum in their quest for success in the ISL.
