Zara Qairina Mahathir's mother, Noraidah Lamat, expressed doubts about certain entries in her diary that contained negative emotions directed towards her. During the coroner's inquest, Noraidah stated that she had never seen the first-grade student produce such written expressions. She questioned the authenticity of the diaries, asserting that anyone could have written such content.

When asked by Inquest Investigator Nahra Dollah about several diaries presented as exhibits, Noraidah disagreed with the notion that the diaries contained expressions of resentment towards Zara Qairina. She emphasized that she had never seen Zara Qairina write like that. Nahra suggested that no other individual would have a reason to write such words, but Noraidah disagreed, clarifying that she knows her daughter and would not dismiss the possibility that the diaries were written by someone else.

Regarding the inclusion of her name and the phrase "I am not born with this," the witness again denied that the diaries were expressions of resentment towards her, acknowledging the use of harsh language in the writing. When asked about the possibility of Zara Qairina's friends writing the diaries, Noraidah stated that she had never been informed of any issues or negative feelings from among them towards her.

She also confirmed that Zara Qairina had a habit of writing diaries that mostly revolved around friendships and daily activities. However, Noraidah affirmed that she had never read the diaries containing negative emotional content directed towards her. Zara Qairina passed away at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on July 17, 2025, one day after being found unconscious near a school hostel in the early hours of the morning. The inquest proceedings continued on October 12.
