HomeKit Weekly: Onvis releases a Matter over Thread outdoor smart plug with energy monitoring

Onvis has launched a new outdoor smart plug designed to work seamlessly with Apple Home, offering real-time energy monitoring and IP65 weather resistance. This product is an excellent choice for homeowners seeking an outdoor plug that can be integrated into their smart home system without the need for a separate hub. With Matter over Thread technology, the plug ensures reliable performance even in areas with limited Wi-Fi coverage, thanks to its mesh networking capabilities.

It is compatible with a variety of smart home platforms, including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and SmartThings, making it a versatile option for those using different smart home ecosystems. The plug features real-time power usage and energy consumption tracking, allowing users to monitor the electricity consumption of outdoor devices such as landscape lighting, pool pumps, and outdoor heaters directly through their Matter-compatible smart home system.

This comprehensive data can be accessed within Apple Home's energy view, eliminating the need for additional apps. Rated IP65, the plug offers protection against dust and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for outdoor use in various weather conditions. It can handle up to 1800 watts, sufficient for powering landscape lighting, holiday decorations, and outdoor fans.

With native scheduling and automation capabilities within Apple Home, users can easily set landscape lights to turn on at sunset and off at a designated time without the need for complex setups. Onvis's commitment to quality and innovation is evident in this product, which fills a valuable gap in the market by offering a feature-rich outdoor smart plug at a competitive price.
