Election results Tamil Nadu LIVE: Counting on for bypoll to 2 key assembly seats; trends to be out shortly

Election results in Tamil Nadu are being updated in real-time for two critical bypolls in assembly seats Madurantakam and Dharapuram, which took place on October 6. These bypolls are part of a larger contest involving three other constituencies in West Bengal and Puducherry. The elections were held following the defeat of the ruling AIADMK party in the April 23 assembly polls, where the party had to rely on its allies for support to form a government.

TVK, led by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, is contesting these two assembly seats for the first time since coming to power. The DMK and the AIADMK have formed the NDA alliance, while the Left parties have decided to contest as an independent Left front, opposing both the DMK and the TVK. The bypolls in Madurantakam and Dharapuram have seen a five-way contest, with the Left parties fielding their own candidates. This is the first electoral battle for Vijay's TVK government in Tamil Nadu.
