Dubai Orchestra Foundation established by law to boost emirate's cultural ambitions

The Dubai Orchestra Foundation, a dedicated entity aimed at promoting orchestral music, was established in the United Arab Emirates. This move was initiated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, who signed Law No. (20) of 2026 to create the Foundation. The primary objective of this new body is to elevate the status of Dubai's cultural scene, both locally and internationally, and to protect its rich artistic heritage.

The Foundation's responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities including the establishment of a local orchestra, organizing performances within and outside the UAE, and promoting Emirati musical traditions. It also aims to support promising musicians, including those with special needs, by developing an annual schedule of music events and hosting international orchestras.

To achieve these goals, the Foundation plans to forge partnerships with both local and international cultural institutions, invest in music education and production, and collaborate with various cultural organizations worldwide. The governance of the Foundation is led by a Board of Trustees, whose members are selected by the Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai and are appointed based on their relevant expertise.

This new Foundation is expected to significantly contribute to Dubai's creative economy. By doing so, it will further solidify the emirate's reputation as a premier destination for cultural tourism, and stimulate investment in the music and performing arts sectors.
