Budget 2027: FLYsiswa Subsidy Up To RM500, MyKomuter50 To Launch Next Year

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has revealed several benefits in the 2027 Budget, mainly revolving around public transportation. These include increased subsidies for FLYsiswa flight tickets for students traveling between Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia. The subsidy, previously set at RM400 last year, will be raised to RM500 per student in the upcoming year.

This increase will assist over 60,000 IPTA students, with breakdowns indicating benefits for public university, polytechnic, and community college students. The My50 pass, which replaced the My30 and My100, will continue to benefit 300,000 users of Prasarana bus and rail services. Introduced in 2022, My50 substituted My30 (which covered bus rides) and My100 (which entailed unlimited light rail rides).

Anwar also announced the introduction of MyKomuter50, tailored for 40,000 KTM train users. This scheme promises to save users up to RM160 monthly. Additionally, the Prime Minister mentioned that free passes will be provided to 360,000 schoolchildren, children under six years old, and the OKU community.

Lastly, the government plans to allocate over RM3.4 billion for the improvement of Prasarana's rail services and the acquisition of 42 new train sets to address frequent train breakdowns and service disruptions.
