39,500 tonnes of illegal waste cleared from Kent wood in 2,500 lorry loads
Nearly 39,500 tonnes of illegally dumped household and construction waste have been cleared from Hoad’s Wood, an ancient woodland in Ashford, Kent, after a 15-month Environment Agency-led operation. The £15.5 million clean-up required 2,500 lorry-loads to remove waste piled up to 15 feet high. Authorities continue investigating organised waste crime across the UK.
