37 Tankers Supply Water To 36,800 People In Beed

The Beed district administration is preparing for potential water scarcity in the coming months by initiating water tanker supply to approximately 36,800 residents in Patoda and Ashti Nagar Panchayat areas. District Collector Vivek Johnson convened a review meeting at the District Collectorate on Thursday, attended by chief officers from all municipal councils.

Johnson emphasized the need for immediate measures in water-scarce regions and requested proposals for water supply works to be submitted to the District Planning Committee without delay.

In Patoda, 17 tankers make 33 trips, providing water to around 16,800 people, while Ashti Nagar Panchayat benefits from 20 tankers making 40 trips, catering to approximately 20,000 residents. Collectively, 37 tankers conduct 74 trips to supply water to the affected 36,800 individuals. Additionally, one well or borewell has been acquired for use in water-scarce areas, and authorities have been directed to acquire public and private borewells as necessary to ensure a continuous water supply.

Johnson stressed the importance of citizens using tap water judiciously on scheduled supply days, urging them to save every drop of water. He also appealed to commercial RO and filtered-water suppliers to explore methods for reusing wastewater generated during filtration. The district's water sources have been exclusively reserved for drinking purposes, with misuse strictly prohibited.

Johnson further directed municipal chief officers to organize special drives for scientific waste disposal and ensure cleanliness in their respective towns.
