WRC expands 2027 calendar to 15 rounds as USA, UK return

The FIA has announced a significantly expanded 2027 World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar, consisting of 15 rounds for the first time since 2008. The addition of new venues, including the USA and the UK, comes as demand to host rallies reaches an all-time high. The return of the WRC to the UK is set to take place from September 30 to October 3 on gravel stages in Scotland.

Simultaneously, the WRC will make its triumphant return to the USA from August 26 to 29, with a new gravel rally featuring routes in both Tennessee and Kentucky. Italy's Rally di Roma Capitale has also been promoted from the European Rally Championship calendar, moving from its October slot to a more traditional summer date of July 8-11.

The Italian round will bid farewell to its original October date and make its debut in the summer. Kenya's Safari Rally, which had faced uncertainty due to a potential end to its government-funded contract, has been retained on the calendar with a March date. Portugal's absence from the 2027 calendar remains, though it may return in 2028.

The season will kick off in Monte Carlo, followed by a snow rally in Sweden, three consecutive asphalt rallies across Croatia, the Canary Islands, and Japan. Greece's Acropolis Rally will maintain its June date, with Rome marking the final asphalt rally before the year concludes with seven consecutive gravel rallies. The 2027 WRC calendar emphasizes momentum, new events in the UK and Italy, and the United States, reflecting the championship's growing global appeal.
