VAR999 gambling admin arrested during border SIMBOX probe

Sa Kaeo police arrested an online gambling website administrator during a search for SIMBOX equipment in Aranyaprathet district. Pol Maj Gen Sarayut Junwan, commander of Cyber Crime Division 2, led the operation with other officers and Provincial Electricity Authority officials. The warrant was issued by the Sa Kaeo Provincial Court on October 7, 2026.

The 26-year-old administrator, Woradet, was apprehended while using a computer to promote the gambling site. Police seized one computer and nine mobile phones. Woradet admitted to working as a gambling website administrator for about a year after being recruited through the Telegram app, earning 20,000 baht monthly. The probe began after receiving intel that SIMBOX devices had been installed in the Thai-Cambodian border area.

However, no SIMBOX equipment was found during the search; it was allegedly moved out of Aranyaprathet before the operation. Woradet is accused of recruiting customers into LINE groups for foreign football betting and sending links to the "VAR999" online gambling website in exchange for payment. Police are now expanding the investigation to identify others involved in the gambling website and SIMBOX equipment operations.
