US, Russia discuss possibility of selling gas to Europe via Nord Stream

On October 8, Ukrainian drones targeted a Yandex data center in Sasovo, Ryazan region, Russia, according to reports from the Telegram channel Astra. The strike ignited a fire that damaged parts of the facility, causing some Yandex services to become temporarily unavailable. No injuries were reported as a result of the attack.

Local Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+ attributed the fire to the Ukrainian strike, citing eyewitness photos and videos. However, Russia's Defense Ministry stated that Ukrainian drones were intercepted and shot down by air defenses in the Ryazan region overnight, indicating a possible overestimation of the Russian defense capabilities.

Yandex confirmed the incident and stated that the situation was under control, with no one injured. The company assured that the team was working to restore the affected services. Several Russian websites, including Postmypost and Komsomolskaya Pravda, became inaccessible due to the attack.

The Yandex data center in Sasovo opened in 2014, occupying part of the former premises of the Sasta machine-tool plant. The plant manufactures pipe-threading machines, supplying products to Russian machine-building enterprises and also exporting some internationally. In September, Russia conducted several strikes on Ukrainian data centers, alleging that they processed and transmitted intelligence data for the Ukrainian armed forces and threatened Ukraine with a "digital detox."
