Trump says Roger Clemens to receive Presidential Medal of Freedom

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that retired MLB pitcher Roger Clemens will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. The seven-time Cy Young winner, known as one of the greatest athletes and possibly the greatest pitcher of all time, was surprised by the announcement while campaigning in San Antonio for Republican state attorney general Ken Paxton.

Trump stated that they were "taking it into our own hands" and awarding Clemens the prestigious medal, despite his exclusion from the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He emphasized that Clemens has never admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs, despite accusations from the 1990s and 2000s. Trump praised Clemens as a "physical monster" and expressed his frustration at his continued exclusion from the Hall of Fame.
