Captain Stuart Lawrence MBE, who for more than three decades commanded the British Antarctic Survey vessels RRS Bransfield and RRS Ernest Shackleton, has died suddenly, according to the National Coastwatch Institution in Gosport, southern England, where he served as a volunteer watchkeeper.
