South Korea to recall ambassador from Kyiv

The South Korean government has decided to recall its ambassador from Kyiv to Seoul, according to a statement released by the South Korean Foreign Ministry. This decision comes after Ukraine's denial of a confidential agreement regarding the transfer of two North Korean prisoners of war to South Korea.

South Korean officials expressed deep regret over the perceived denial of the agreement, as reported by Ukrinform. Dmytro Lytvyn, a Ukrainian presidential advisor on communications, clarified on Facebook that no non-disclosure agreement existed and emphasized the importance of disclosing where prisoners of war were taken.

In response to inquiries from Yonhap, the President's Office clarified that Ukraine had only disclosed the fact of the transfer without revealing detailed process information. Despite Ukraine's subsequent apology for disclosing the information, the South Korean government did not feel the apology met their expectations, leading to the decision to recall the ambassador.
