SARIKEI, October 8 — A newly announced 2.7-kilometre road connecting Sare to Jalan Sentubu/Bukit Kinyau, projected to cost around RM17 million, is anticipated to reduce the journey time from Sare to Sarikei town from 30 minutes to just 10 minutes. According to Sarawak Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, the route will also serve as an alternative path to Sarikei Hospital, potentially alleviating traffic congestion on the current route.
Funded by the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA), the project is set for completion within 12 months. Datuk Len Talif informed gathered reporters following the project's groundbreaking ceremony and the distribution of compensation cheques to affected landowners that approximately RM1.4 million has been designated for land acquisition from around 20 landowners.
He emphasized that "this road will significantly benefit residents, as travel to Sarikei town will be shortened from approximately 30 minutes to 10 minutes."
