Ogun: FRSC promotes technology, data-driven initiatives to curb road crashes

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to bolster partnerships, leverage technology, and roll out data-driven initiatives to minimize road accidents. Speaking at the RS2 Special Marshals Zonal Conference in Abeokuta, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed commended Special Marshals for their volunteer work but urged them to enhance data collection for evidence-based solutions.

Mohammed emphasized the importance of collaboration between government bodies, private enterprises, transport providers, local communities, educational institutions, and faith-based organizations to bolster road safety education, traffic regulation, emergency response, and post-accident care.

The National Coordinator of the Special Marshals, Dr Adaji Usman, alongside former National Coordinator Dr Sini Kinbi, highlighted discipline, professionalism, capacity building, and efficient data management as critical components driving positive outcomes. Technical presentations were delivered by Commander Frederick Ayodele Sangofadeji (Rtd) and moderated by SM Olusegun Akintan, Zonal Coordinator of RS2 Lagos.

The conference, themed “Repositioning Special Marshals for Greater Impact through Strategic Partnerships and Data-Driven Road Safety Initiatives,” saw Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun represented by Transportation Commissioner Engr Gbenga Dairo, as well as the Sector Commander, RS2.1 Lagos, CC G.K. Hamzat, and other key officials in attendance.

At the event, participants pledged their dedication to assisting the FRSC in curbing crashes and advancing a more professional and technology-focused Special Marshals Scheme.
