NHL Insider Drops Surprising Update on Simon Edvinsson’s Future With Red Wings
Darren Dreger reveals Simon Edvinsson may still be willing to stay with the Detroit Red Wings despite ongoing contract disputes and trade rumors.
Detroit Red Wings may still retain defenseman Simon Edvinsson despite recent trade rumors, according to NHL insider Darren Dreger. Edvinsson, who is a restricted free agent, has reportedly been open to remaining with the team. Despite the Red Wings' initial delay in presenting a contract offer to Edvinsson in late September, recent adjustments to the proposed contract structure show the organization's willingness to work towards a resolution.
However, progress in negotiations has been slow, and Detroit remains open to exploring trade options. The 23-year-old defenseman has expressed interest in staying with Detroit long-term, making his departure particularly disappointing for an organization that relies on his defensive skills.
