Mary Deleary Named Director of IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts

Mary Deleary, a member of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, will assume the role of director at IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, effective October 19. Presently, Deleary oversees the university's Research Center for Contemporary Native Arts. She earned her BFA in Museum Studies from IAIA in 2010 and later pursued a PhD in Native American Art History from the University of Oklahoma.

Deleary's work encompasses Anishinaabe leadership practices, Indigenous research methodologies, and archives and collection development. She previously interned at the museum she will now lead, gaining insight into its vital role in supporting Indigenous artists, students, and communities.
