Man injured after New York shooting involving DHS agents

On Thursday, a man was injured in a shooting that involved US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents, according to New York City police. The incident occurred in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, one of New York's five boroughs. The NYPD has stated that its personnel were not involved in the shooting. DHS is the parent agency of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Following a series of ICE raids in major US cities to detain and deport undocumented individuals, President Donald Trump's administration has intensified these operations. Local media reported that ICE was involved in the recent shooting, leading to protests in New York. Governor Kathy Hochul said she had been briefed on the incident and called for full transparency from federal authorities.

DHS has yet to provide a public statement on the matter. Previous incidents involving ICE and Border Patrol have raised concerns about the training and oversight of these agents. In January, an ICE agent killed a US citizen, Renee Good, in Minneapolis, leading to demonstrations nationwide. Another US citizen, Alex Pretti, was killed by Border Protection officers in Minneapolis just days later.
