The New York Giants have bolstered their quarterback room by promoting Jake Haener from the practice squad to the active roster. This move places Haener behind starting quarterback Jameis Winston on the depth chart. The decision comes after J.J. McCarthy's arrival from the Minnesota Vikings following Jaxson Dart's season-ending knee injury.
The promotion of Haener provides the Giants with added flexibility for game-day substitutions, injuries, and practice planning. With three quarterbacks now available, the team can better navigate their demanding weekly schedule. McCarthy, the No. 10 pick in the 2024 draft, remains on track for the primary backup role, with Haener stepping in for emergency purposes.
