The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has launched an inter-schools fire safety quiz competition in the Ga North Municipality to promote fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and safety awareness among pupils. Ten basic schools, consisting of five public and five private institutions, participated in the preliminary stage of the competition from September 28 to 30, 2026.
California Stars School Complex emerged victorious with the highest score, securing an automatic qualification for the grand finale. BAMS International School and Ayawaso M/A Cluster School also advanced to the final after winning their respective semi-final contests. The three schools will compete for honours at the grand finale, with the date and venue yet to be announced.
The GNFS hopes that this initiative will equip pupils with essential fire safety knowledge and encourage fire prevention and preparedness from an early age, while also strengthening collaboration between the Fire Service and schools in the municipality.
