CBS News Amazed by Accuracy of GTA 6, Highlights Miami Similarities in New Report

CBS News has been impressed with the accuracy of Vice City in Rockstar Games' upcoming game, Grand Theft Auto 6. The Miami office of CBS News examined various locations and consulted experts to analyze the level of realism in Rockstar's open world. The report highlights over 100 locations in Vice City that match real areas in Miami, such as PortMiami, South Beach, Wynwood, and the Everglades. Fans have noted these similarities in the game, which is set to release on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.

The Miami reporter notes that Vice City is "unmistakably Miami," and even points out a replicated overhead walkway that residents would recognize. The video also features Ocean Drive, which fans will notice from the original GTA: Vice City, complete with neon lights and bustling streets. In the game, the Breakwater Hotel is represented as Hotel Boardwalk, while a hotel in the background is called Hotel Dixon. The Victor Hotel, a reimagined version of the original Victor Hotel, appears as Hotel Dixon in GTA 6.

Rockstar's attention to detail is praised in the report, with the game blending the iconic art deco architecture of Old Miami with the modern buildings that characterize the city today. CBS News also explores the deeper South Florida feel of Vice City, emphasizing the character, culture, and adventure that define the city. Julie Fornary, from the Miami Design Preservation League, talks about the city's history and how it was founded by pioneers and adventurers.

GTA 6 gameplay has already shown how Florida, or Leonida in-game, will be adapted, featuring activities such as kayaking, street and off-road racing, and air boating.
