20 rescued NYSC members arrive Oyo

Twenty prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have been rescued and arrived in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State. On Wednesday, security forces, including the military, police, and the Department of State Services (DSS), managed to rescue the individuals along with one additional person. Currently, the 20 corps members are housed at the Oyo State headquarters of the DSS in Aleshinloye, located in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.

It was reported that only the representatives of the victims' parents were granted access to the DSS office, with the rest of the group remaining outside. According to the DAILY POST, the 20 NYSC members were abducted while en route to orientation camps in Abia State, traveling by two buses. Fortunately, the remaining ten individuals managed to escape through the bush and regained their freedom seven days after their abduction on the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Umunoha, Imo State.

The kidnappers had initially demanded N50 million each ransom, totaling N1 billion, but later lowered the amount to N5 million per person, resulting in a total ransom of N100 million.
