Insurance firm Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia and e-commerce platform ShopeePay have teamed up to make their Zurich Savings & Protection Plan available through ShopeePay's app. Users can now access this plan by tapping the "Insurance" icon on ShopeePay's homepage and choosing "Endowment." Priced starting at RM500, the plan offers a straightforward two-year solution that balances savings growth with life protection.
Zurich Malaysia's Country CEO, Junior Cho, revealed that the company plans to reduce the entry premium to as low as RM100 in the future. In the coming year, Zurich intends to extend this simplicity to family takaful, offering more Malaysians a choice of Syariah-compliant protection. The plan provides life and disability coverage of up to 105% of the paid premium, with the option to receive up to 99% of the premium back if cash-out is chosen before maturity.
Moreover, ShopeePay customers can anticipate receiving a guaranteed cash back every six months. Cho emphasized that bridging Malaysia's protection gap hinges on reaching Malaysians where they already are, rather than expecting them to reach Zurich. Alain Yee, Head of ShopeePay Malaysia, highlighted that although general insurance and takaful play crucial roles in providing safety nets, ShopeePay's integration of ZLIMB plans brings accessibility to a new level with a proactive approach.
By lowering obstacles to entry, they aim to make quality protection more affordable, understandable, and accessible to those who need it most.
