What Ronaldo deserves amid uncertainty over Portugal future – Modric

Croatia football legend Luka Modric has expressed his belief that Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to conclude his tenure with the Portugal national team on a high note. The incident occurred after Ronaldo left the team following a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. This has left the 41-year-old’s future with the national side in doubt.

In a lengthy statement released on Tuesday, Ronaldo stated that he remains open to playing for Portugal, while separate reports suggest the Al-Nassr forward would prefer Jesus to exit before his return. Modric responded to Ronaldo's comments, praising the Portuguese star as "the greatest player in the history of Portugal" and insisting that he "deserves another farewell and another ending with the national team."

Modric expressed his concern over the situation, saying: "It's sad to see this happening to Cristiano in his own country." However, he remains optimistic that a resolution will be reached, noting that Ronaldo deserves a fitting farewell, regardless of whether he continues with the national team or retires. Modric stated, "So, I don't know exactly what happened, but I hope the situation gets resolved."
