Warriors’ Steve Kerr honors Don Nelson in a unique way during press conference

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr honored legendary coach Don Nelson during a unique pregame press conference held at the Chase Center. Kerr brought a cold Bud Light to the briefing, paying tribute to Nelson's penchant for enjoying a cold beer post-game and press conferences throughout his career. This gesture was particularly poignant as the Warriors were set to take on the Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason game.

Nelson, fondly known as "Nellie," was a key figure in the "We Believe" era that defined Golden State basketball. Kerr's toast to his mentor set the tone for an impressive performance from the Warriors. In a dominant 124-98 victory over the Lakers, Golden State showcased stellar ball movement and sharp shooting. Stephen Curry, while playing limited minutes, contributed 16 points, five assists, and hit three 3-pointers.

Rookie forward Yaxel Lendeborg led the bench with 17 points and nine rebounds, while guard Brandin Podziemski added 16 points. Draymond Green orchestrated the offense, dishing out eight assists. The Warriors' shooting was exceptional, hitting 51.2% from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc, including 15 3-pointers. The Lakers, missing several key players, struggled to keep up, with Sandro Mamukelashvili leading with 15 points and Jaden Hardy chipping in 13 points.

Guard Bronny James contributed 4 points and 5 assists. This preseason game highlighted Golden State's blend of nostalgia and high-powered basketball, honoring their legacy while delivering on the court.
